Lena McKechnie
Lena is a talented cake decorator with 13 years of experience. She is the owner and founder of Savvy Cakes, a business that has grown substantially over the years, with collaborations with other sugar artists, event stylists, and photographers. Her work has been featured in various magazines, and she has a long list of corporate clients, including Big W, Harvey Norman, and Penrith City Council.
In addition to running Savvy Cakes, Lena works as part of the events team within the Australian Cake Decorating Network, organizing networking events for members across Australia. She also teaches online Masterclasses and in-person classes from her studio, sharing her skills with other aspiring cake decorators.
Lena's talents have been recognized by the industry, with nominations for various awards, including the Cake Decorating and Baking Industry's "Jo McIntosh CAKE MATE" award, which she won in 2020. She has also been nominated for Best Teacher, Best Business Adaptation, and Best Cupcake.
In 2016, Lena developed a cookie recipe for Dr Oetker Baking Australia New Zealand, which is currently published on their website. Lena enjoys teaching and sharing her skills, having taught cake and cookie decorating at several Cake Bake & Sweets Shows in Sydney and Melbourne.
